NEWS ABOUT CYBERMETRICS

Cybermetrics is a free journal published only in electronic format in the World Wide Web. No other version (printed or e-mail) is distributed. Cybermetrics is a public service for the world community of researchers in the metrics of scientific communication.

New Editorial Committee members (Jan.-March, 2001).

We have now more members in the Editorial Committee, a revamped section devoted to the Seminars organized during the International Congresses (Cybermetrics 'XX) and the links were checked and updated. A new section covers statistics about the journal server (Jan. 2000).

Two major revisions of this Website were done during May and December 1998 in order to include more links, resources and other valuable information. All that data will be grouped in a new section called "The Source" instead of the old "Links in the Cyberspace" as the number of printed papers about these topics increased in such a way that an enlarged coverage is necessary. A complete list of resources of the Fifth Framework Program of R&D (European Commission) is on the way.

A new member for the Editorial Board is filling the informetrics gap: agreed to join us with the promise of a future participation of his team (Programme de Recherche en Infométrie from the Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique, INIST).

After the summer, three renowned scientometricians accept a chair as new members of Cybermetrics Editorial Committee:

(Royal School of Library and Information Science. Copenhagen. Denmark).

(Programme Leader Networked Research and Digital Information (Nerdi) NIWI-KNAW The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. The Netherlands).

(School of Library, Archive and Information Studies. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Israel).

Official presentation of Cybermetrics took place during the Sixth International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics in Jerusalem on June 17th, 1997. Members of its Editorial Committee, Dr. Luc Quoniam, Mr. Ed Noyons and Mr. Isidro Aguillo spoke about the aims of the Journal and they answered a high number of questions from audience. There is a brief summary of the presentation in Cybermetrics'97 page.
